A 29-slide presentation that starts from the reality that high-crime areas in Korea are ignored as society's shadowy corners, and investigates the case of Yokohama, Japan, where high-crime areas were regenerated into safe neighborhoods. It explains why the research topic and study areas were chosen, and summarizes desk research such as the trip plan (Koganecho on day 1 and Kotobukicho on day 2) and estimated costs. The field study section introduces how Koganecho, where sex-trade establishments numbered about 260 and drug dealing was rampant, was transformed into an arts district as local residents, the city and the police worked together to drive out the businesses and offer the spaces to artists.
It then shows, with photos, how vacant single-room lodgings in Kotobukicho, which multiplied as port workers aged and the port industry declined, were turned into hostels.
